Solar Miner value calculator

Estimate what surplus solar could earn in a miner, compared with home export credits, stored power in portable generators, or curtailed solar off-grid. Every number below is an estimate.

What if BTC rises? — Scenarios, not predictions

USD

Solar your system would otherwise waste once batteries are full. Actual amounts vary by array size, battery size, season and usage.

kWh

Designed to run the miner only when batteries are full and solar would otherwise be curtailed — never from battery reserve your home needs, and never from a backup generator. Off-grid integration (battery state-of-charge and charge-controller/inverter signals) is in development; the current prototype detects grid export with CTs.

Off-grid systems have no utility export credit — surplus solar is curtailed once batteries are full, so today it earns $0.

Each $10k rise in BTC adds about $29/yr to your estimated yearly value.

You keep the bitcoin you mine; if BTC's price rises, what you've already mined is worth more too. Sats mined depend on network difficulty and halvings, not on price.

Estimated ¢/kWh vs bitcoin price

Your share Gross

Hashprice is scaled linearly with BTC price. In practice network difficulty usually rises with price, so high-price scenarios may overstate earnings.

Estimates only, not guaranteed. Assumes Avalon Q (90 TH/s, 1,674 W), hashprice ~$36.14/PH/day (scaled from ~$36.30 at BTC ~$81k, Oct 2026), 0% pool fee, after AVL's 20% share, 10 kWh/day of otherwise-curtailed solar, no export credit (off-grid).

Default reflects an average day (~10 kWh/day of curtailed solar). Winter days and smaller arrays produce less; some days may produce no surplus.

Important disclosure

Mining value may fall below your utility export credit. Equipment cost, noise, heat, maintenance and electricity considerations are the owner's responsibility. Bitcoin payouts are sent at the pool level directly to the owner's own wallet; AVL Energy does not hold customer funds. Tax treatment of mined bitcoin may apply. The 2028 halving is expected to roughly halve mining revenue at the same bitcoin price.
